Traumatology – Outpatient clinic

What does traumatology deal with?

It provides rapid care after accidents and unexpected injuries in professional conditions, with a surgical background, with the participation of specialists with qualification in traumatology.

What diseases or complaints are covered?

These are typically sports, home, school, workplace injuries such as dislocations, bruises, sprains, strains, abrasions, as well as fractures, tears, and cut wounds.

If you have been to an emergency room, you know that most of the patients waiting there have suffered the injuries listed above. The Trauma Clinic of Emineo has two main benefits:

  • Because we are not allowed to treat seriously injured patients, we can essentially always see our patients at the scheduled time, thus minimizing the waiting period. Thus, our patients can leave the hospital after their appointment within an average of 40 minutes, thus reducing the stress that already exists due to the accident.
  • In cases where surgery is unavoidable, the patient does not have to be transported to another institution as we can perform the necessary intervention even immediately in our professionally equipped operating room, which is unique in Budapest. We are prepared for more than 300 types of surgeries.

What happens in a personal consultation?

In our private hospital, our fee-for-service trauma clinic and trauma surgery are available every day of the week, including weekends and public holidays from 0:00 to 24:00. Our professional and trained specialists examine the injuries with modern diagnostic tools and then treat them, whether it is a contusion, fracture or tearing.

IMPORTANT: our doctors on duty come to the hospital on call from 20:00 to 08:00 at night. Please call Emineo Private Hospital before heading to us at the central number + 36-1-77-33-333.

Possible therapies

After the necessary diagnostic tests, our specialists immediately treat the vast majority of our patients on the spot. Treatment ends with the prescription of the medicines and medical aids needed at home and scheduling the appointment for follow-up examination. Medical aids are also provided to our patients in our hospital.

During the follow-up examination (in addition to suturing, plaster cast application/brace replacement), we discuss the further process of healing, possible physiotherapy, and also take care of any further aftercare, treatments and therapies.

If surgery is also required, depending on the type of injury, it is also available in our private hospital. You can find more information about this here.

Treatments by the most common injury groups:

  1. Mild limb and skin injuries
Most of these can be solved in outpatient care. If the injury is only abrasion, it may be appropriate to administer a tetanus vaccine to avoid infection, and care for the wound is paramount.
However, more careful and thorough care is required with a sharp-edged device, or a high-energy cut, or destructive injury, as this can damage tissues, muscles, tendons, blood vessels, and bones, and these need to be repaired.
In the case of tendon and vascular injuries, it is also important to examine the extent to which the limb is able to perform its function, whether the perception is impaired and whether its range of motion is narrowed.
In the case of bite injuries, it is especially important to avoid the risk of infection.
  2. Electrical and thermal injuries
High or low heat can damage our body and its skin surface. Whether it is sufficient to treat the wound at home or whether specialist care is required depends on the extent of the injury. In case of a more severe, second- or third-degree burn, only a specialist can help. The same is true for accidents caused by frostbite. If the degree of frostbite is less, the complaint can be remedied at home. However, if the surface tissues have already been damaged, blisters have appeared, or the entire thickness of the skin has died, specialist help should be sought to improve or maintain limb function.
Damage caused by electric current can damage not only the epidermis and its tissue, but also the blood vessels running underneath. A specialist can determine how much treatment is needed: dead areas may need to be excised to avoid later complaints.

Introduction of video consultation

Even in the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus, we endeavor to resolve the complaints of our patients and reduce their pain. To this end, we have launched our video consultation service, in which our specialists are at our patients’ service on-line.
