Dermatology

What does dermatology deal with?

In addition to the skin, it also examines the diseases and changes of the hair and nails, but also places great emphasis on the prevention of health problems in the form of screening tests.

Why is it important to pay attention to our skin?

The skin is the largest defensive part of the body, protecting it from injury, dehydration, light and heat, regulating body temperature, preventing toxic substances from entering, or even (it’s not optional, it does) transmitting stimuli. It also plays an important role against pathogens.

What complaints should you see your dermatologist with?

It is recommended to visit our dermatologist at Emineo Private Hospital with general dermatological complaints :

  • rash, pimples, eczema, psoriasis,
  • allergies,
  • rosacea,
  • skin growths, warts, mole screening,
  • viral and bacterial skin infections,,
  • increased sweating,
  • scalp diseases, hair loss,
  • nail diseases such as nail fungus

It is important to have regular mole screening because melanoma develops insidiously and is a deadly disease. Once a year, it would be ideal to have a special skin and mole examination done in this regard.

What happens during a dermatological examination?

Our specialist learns about the patient’s medical history, asks about symptoms that primarily affect the skin or the problematic part, but also discusses other possible diseases. If there are previous findings, the dermatologist will also review it along with the results of laboratory tests and then performs a physical examination, even with a so-called dermatoscope. If necessary, the dermatologist may request a blood test or refer the patient to other specialties in order to find the cause of the symptoms. Once the diagnosis has been made, the complaints are treated as part of an individual therapy, which may include some form of medication that can be applied to the skin or taken orally (e.g., anti-allergic medicine or fungicide tablets).

Introduction of video consultation

Even in the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus, we endeavor to resolve the complaints of our patients and reduce their pain. To this end, we have launched our video consultation service, in which our specialists are at our patients’ service on-line.
