What is it used in for?
In addition to the direct imaging of coronary arteries, echocardiography (cardiac ultrasound) provides answers to almost all questions that are important in the structural and functional assessment of the heart. The quality of the echocardiography equipment and the training of the doctor performing the test also play an important role in the examination. Echocardiography shows the size of the chambers of the heart, the function of the ventricles and the whole heart, wall thicknesses can be measured, diseases of the heart muscle can be detected, valvular diseases can be visualized and their severity can be classified. Today, the indication for valvular heart surgeries is also set up with the help of echocardiography. The test may be interesting for hereditary diseases (having a family history of cardiac or circulatory problems) or those caused by an external factor such as alcohol, toxins, infection, or coronary heart disease.
How it is done?
The test is performed on a state-of-the-art ultrasound device with state-of-the-art technology and takes an average of about 20 minutes.
