After making an appointment we perform joint, abdominal, pelvic, thyroid, soft tissue, lower limb and cervical vessel ultrasound in our clinic. The advantage of ultrasound scan as compared to x-ray is that it doesn’t emit harmful radiation, visualizes soft tissues more accurately, it may detect ligament injuries, fluid accumulation in joints and cartilage injuries, and helps to diagnose stones.
The gist of ultrasound scan is that the handheld device emits ultrasound beams toward the examined organ which absorbs and reflects these beams in various extents, depending on its properties. The image which is gained this way is analysed and visualized by a computer. Ultrasound scans are performed by specialist radiologists in our clinic. Patients can watch the ultrasound image on a monitor during the scan and the examining physician gives detailed information on what’s seen there. Abdominal ultrasound scans take place in the morning hours. The reason of this is that it is easier to visualize abdominal organs when the bladder is filled (joint, thyroid, soft tissue, lower limb ad cervical vessel ultrasounds may take place anytime during the day).
